Morning all.

Today’s project was a gift for one of the secretaries at my work. She turned 50….but it was a very covert operation. However, I could not let the event go by unheralded. It kind of had a “I don’t see/hear/or speak of 50” feel to it.

I was immediately reminded of a card I saw on Kerry Bunting’s blog here. to go with it, I had a wee post it holder from Bronwyn Eastley’s blog here. A tweak here and an adjustment there and this is what I came up with…….

And the gift together…….

I will admit to doing a very big happy dance when this one was finished as it looked better than I had hoped. The best “win” was being able to separately stamp the sentiment on the card and have it balance….real “fist-pump” moment. The recipient really got a giggle out of it too…and laughter on your birthday is a great gift.
The post it note holder is form Dawn Griffiths blog here.
Thanks for popping by.

Morning all…….

Please do not adjust you spectacles….yes it is me and I am POSTING!!!! Thanks for you patience and e mails of friendship and encouragement. Things have settled a little, but there is still a ways to go…a long way in fact, but at least there is a little light.

Now I created these cards a VERY long time ago and I got the inspiration from Leonie Schroder and her card here. I just love the whimsy and simplicity of it….so much so that I made a couple….or 4.

Here are my versions….

Now as usual…..I have made small tweaks on each of them so no 2 are exactly alike. The differences range from a different vine colour, sentiment and rhinestones or pearls. I did particularly like the way the vellum made the butterfly “fly”.
The other little piece of special was the wonderful embossing the vellum held.
Here are 3 of the 4 cards together. 1 had to make a quick exit so I was not late for a friend’s birthday.
Again, thanks so much for your patience, support and friendship. I hope to schedule a couple more posts over the next few days. Last weekend (18-20th May) I also went to Craft Camp and I have MUCH to share from there too.
Thanks for popping by.

Morning all.

Today I wish to share with you the cards and gift card holders that I made for my son’s coach and assistant coach. The team he plays for is Macquarie Saints and their colours ate a tealy turquoise, red and black. I had to make them as blokey as possible and I sort inspiration from this card. Here is my interpretation….

Yes….in my never ending quest to not make 2 cards identical….I did change them slightly!!! The “You Rock” banners were elevated slightly in the middle. I was very happy with these….so much so that I made matching gift card holders…..

I tried to be really clever (not) and use a button as a closure….it kind of worked, but I needed to think it through a little better. Here’s front and back and the inside……

Needless to say….the cards were from a bunch of 11 and 12yo boys and they thought the cards were “cool” so that was all the approval I really needed. Here is each set together…..

I will try and list all the bits and pieces, but listing them all in my mind….there really were quite a few!!!

Thanks for dropping by. Hope to be back soon.

Morning all.

Question….when you love making cards and gifts and the like….what do you do when your son’s baseball team needs thank yous for the staff?? Volunteer to make them of course!!

I started off with the lady who scores the games each week. Baseball scoring is a skill. Every ball is marked as strike/ball/etc and then the # of bases taken or if the runner got out is also noted. You have to be on the ball in a big way. The lady who does score is a real girly-girl, so her card reflected this…..

The background needed a bit of oomph….so I stamped a pattern to just break it up a bit.
The flowers are a combination of the Bouquet Blossom Triple Layer Punch and combined it with a small Carla Craft daisy.
The DSP I used was the old and very faithful Bella Rose. I miss it so much and only bust it out when really needed. I needed a Pink Pirouette DSP…so it was needed!!!
Thanks for popping by and I will be back in a few days with the cards and gifts I made for the Coach and Assistant Coach.

Morning all.

Remember how I mentioned that I was a LONG way behind with my posts….well I discovered this one from January that for some odd reason had not made it yet!!!

Becky Roberts is an amazing paper crafter and it is from one of her creations I took a direct CASE. This is Becky’s card. This is my version of Becky’s card…….

To me the flower appeared a little flat….so I lightly curled the edges of the petals a little and came up with this…..
It made such a huge difference don’t you think?? Here is the difference side on…..
Did you also notice that there is no neutral colour CS on this card…no white and no vanilla!!!! Who’d have thunk right??? The sentiment is stamped directly onto the DSP. Here are the 2 cards together…..
Thanks for popping by. I hope you are all enjoying the Easter break and didn’t OD too much on those eggs.

Morning all.
I must admit that the title of this post is a slight dig at one of my brother’s in law. He is a drummer and we all know that drummers one day wanna grow up and be real musicians….hee hee hee. It was his birthday and I was inspired by this card. Sadly I do not have the creator and I have gone back through everything and cannot find the creator, so if it is you…thanks so much.
This is my version of the card above…..
I decided to carry the star theme through from the stamped background, to the brads to the punched shapes.
Now for those regular readers, you know that I do not wet emboss very often, but I braved it for this card. I think it came out OK….but I still need a lot more practice!!
I had a heap of fun putting this card together. I got to bust out Extreme Elements which create a fun and fantastic grunge background in next to no time.
Thanks for popping by.

Hi all.

I hope you are all enjoying the long Easter break. I have so much to show you, so I hope to schedule some fairly regular posts over the next week or so.

Today’s card date’s back a month or so….yes I am that far behind!!! One of the secretaries at work was about to celebrate a zero birthday. This lady is very elegant and understated. I was asked to make her card that was black and white and nowhere was it to mention her age!!!! Easy right????

I was inspired by this card on SCS…..it fitted the black and white part anyhow. This is the card I made for the birthday girl…..

and I also made one slightly different for the stash……
I think the red just stepped up the sass factor a little. I embossed the stripe…although due to 2 sproggets tearing around…I ended up debossing as opposed to embossing….but it worked out OK.
The swirl is so very intricate and with both rhinestones and pearls it looked so pretty.
The birthday gal loved her card….so I was happy too.
Thanks for popping by. As promised will have more for you all soon.

Morning all.

As I mentioned before, I still have a really good relationship with my old work place. The young girl that replaced me had her little boy turning 4. He loves rainbows and was having a rainbow themed party. She had Googled and searched high and low for candy/treats and goodies. I had seen on various blogs, cute banners that sat above cakes with the birthday boy or girl’s name on it. I offered to make one for Oliver in rainbow colours….of course. Cathy was kind enough to send me the following pictures.

And of course the magical work of art that was the inside……
The banner went together so very easily. It was held together with crochet cotton. I punched 1/16 inch circle holes through the top points of the flag and then threaded the cotton through.

Morning all.
Finally (I hear you laud), she has something crafty to show!!!

This is the 2nd of the tulip cards I made for a secretary that I use to work with. We have remained good friends even though I left my old work over 2 1/2 years ago. I went with a favourite colour combo of purples and green.

Here is the card…..

Now….what to give with it…..hmmmmmmmmmmm?? Ever find that you have a gift….and nothing to go with it….well I found a solution!!! I made her a wee note card holder from 2 of the Scallop Envelope dies joined together. What I finally made was a mildly amended version of this. The end result was this….. (front and back)
And side……
It held comfortably 4 note cards that were 3 x 3 inches and 4 envelopes. These were the cards inside. I also stamped the envelopes so they matched.
….and of course the card and gift ready to go……

Needless to say….she loved them. Purely by co-incidence, she had a gift at home that she had forgotten a card for…but now does!!!

Thanks for dropping by. I will try and list all the bits used, but there was a lot. If you have any questions….please ask and I will answer.
